What do normal people do? Normal people go outside and hang with their friends and stuff right? I don't. I sit in this room watching videos of other people play video games (I do spend time with my girlfriend, I guess that's more normal).
I've been watching the Endurance Run: Persona 4 videos on GiantBomb, basically two guys play through this Japanese RPG, which is pretty funny on its own, making comments on it and how crazy it is, then a bunch of people make comments telling them how they're playing the game wrong, while a bunch more people tell the first bunch of people to shut up.
Just the fact that I like this is probably a bit weird, but at least I know there's a bunch of other weirdoes watching with me. My problem comes in with the fact that I only started watching these about a fortnight ago and have already watched 51 of these videos which are up to an hour long. That's not normal right? Am I compensating for some sort of isolation, by watching other people do fun things to make me feel like they're my friends? Who knows?
In other news, I saw Star Trek with Annie last night (I do do normal stuff! Yay I don't have to go back into therapy!) If you haven't already gathered I am a nerd, a dork, a geek, a loser, whatever the fuck you wanna call me and I loved this film. I may not be a full on Trekkie (or Trekker which apparently they prefer) but I know enough to know that there wasn't anything wrong with how the film treated the franchise. Plus they've got a brilliant get out clause for any angry fan-boys (not gonna say what is to avoid spoliers).
The film also manages to avoid falling into sci-fi plot holes, without being intensely science ridden. They have a good plot which strikes a nice balance of simplicity and sci-fi twists. The bad guy is the right level of understandable (enough that you don't just go "That's fucking ridiculous!" but not so much that you feel "This dude is the bad guy, I don't care about his sad past!"). My only complaint would be that it moves very fast from one thing to another, but I think it works to the film's advantage as it allows it include enough of all the characters to appease fan-boy nutjobs and leaves room for the plot, without the film dragging on for too long. Basically they did pretty much everything they could with this film and I would recommend anyone to see it.
